1. About these terms
ProjectAnderson.com (the "Site") is a personal portfolio operated by Joshua Anderson ("I," "me," or "my"). These Terms & Policies apply to everyone who visits or uses the Site. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. Acceptable use
When using the Site, you agree not to:
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its hosting, or any related account or system;
- probe, scan, or test the Site for vulnerabilities without my prior written permission;
- interfere with or disrupt the Site, including through excessive automated traffic, aggressive scraping, or denial-of-service activity;
- transmit malicious code or use the Site for any unlawful purpose; or
- misrepresent your identity or affiliation when contacting me.
3. Content and intellectual property
Unless otherwise noted, the text, design, code, graphics, and project materials on the Site are owned by me and are provided for viewing only. You are welcome to share links to the Site, but you may not copy, republish, or redistribute its content for commercial purposes without my written permission.
Company names, logos, and trademarks that appear on the Site, including Google, Coursera, PayPal, and Cloudflare, belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply sponsorship or endorsement.
4. Donations
In short: donations are gifts. They support my independent work, but they do not purchase anything, and they do not obligate me to create or deliver anything for you.
The Site offers an optional way to support my work through PayPal. By making a donation, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Donations are voluntary gifts. A donation is not a payment for, or a deposit toward, any product, service, or deliverable.
- No goods, services, or work are owed. A donation does not entitle you to any software, custom work, commission, feature request, priority support, early access, or other benefit, and it does not obligate me to create, deliver, or complete anything for you.
- Projects require a separate agreement. Any project, collaboration, or paid work must be agreed to separately and in writing. A donation does not form or replace such an agreement.
- Donations are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law or by PayPal's policies.
- Donations are not tax-deductible. I am an individual, not a registered charity or nonprofit organization.
- Payments are processed by PayPal and are subject to PayPal's own terms and privacy policy. I never receive or store your full card or bank account details.
If you believe a donation was made in error or without your authorization, please contact PayPal directly and let me know using the contact details in section 13.
5. Guestbook
The Site's guestbook lets you post comments and reviews without an account. By submitting a post, you agree that:
- Posts are moderated. Every submission is reviewed before it appears, and I may decline, remove, or unpublish any post at my discretion, at any time, without notice.
- You are responsible for what you post. Do not post personal information (yours or anyone else's), harassment, hate speech, spam, advertising, malicious links, or anything unlawful, misleading, or infringing on someone else's rights.
- Reviews must be genuine. Reviews should reflect your honest experience. Fake, paid, or incentivized reviews are not allowed.
- You allow me to display your post. You keep ownership of what you write, but you grant me a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to display it on the Site, and I may remove it at any time.
- Posts cannot be edited after submission. Because there are no accounts, I cannot verify who wrote a post. To request removal of something you posted, email me with the post's date and wording.
- Posts are the views of their authors. Guestbook posts do not necessarily reflect my views.
6. Project inquiries
Contacting me about a project does not create a client, contractor, or other professional relationship. Any work I agree to take on will be defined in a separate written agreement covering its scope, timeline, and payment. Descriptions of my skills and past projects are provided for general information and are not an offer or a guarantee of availability.
7. Third-party services and links
The Site relies on third-party services, including Cloudflare (hosting, security, analytics, and the Turnstile human check), PayPal (donations), and Coursera (certificate verification), and it links to other websites. I am not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of third-party sites and services. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.
8. Privacy
The Site is designed to collect as little information about you as possible.
- No accounts. You do not need to create an account or submit personal information to browse the Site.
- No advertising trackers. The Site does not set its own cookies or use advertising or cross-site tracking tools.
- Analytics. The Site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused service that counts page visits without cookies and without tracking you across other websites.
- Hosting and security. Cloudflare, which hosts and protects the Site, may process technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and request details, and may use strictly necessary security cookies, in order to deliver the Site and defend it against abuse.
- Email. If you email me, I use your message and email address only to respond to you.
- Guestbook. Posting does not require an account or an email address. I store only what you submit (an optional nickname, your message, and any rating) along with the date. To prevent spam, the Site keeps a one-way, salted code derived from your IP address for up to 24 hours to enforce posting limits; your IP address itself is not stored. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that each submission comes from a real person and may process browser and device signals to do so.
- Donations. When you donate, PayPal may share your name, email address, and donation details with me as part of the transaction record. I use this information only for my records and, if appropriate, to thank you.
I do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
9. Security
I take reasonable measures to protect the Site and the people who visit it, including:
- Encrypted connections. All traffic is served over HTTPS, plain HTTP requests are redirected to HTTPS, and HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) tells browsers to always use a secure connection.
- Content Security Policy. The Site only allows scripts, styles, and connections from its own files and a short list of trusted services, which helps block cross-site scripting and injected content.
- Clickjacking protection. Other websites cannot embed the Site in a frame.
- Hardened browser settings. Additional security headers prevent content-type sniffing, limit the referrer information shared with other sites, isolate the Site from other browser windows, and disable features it does not need, such as camera, microphone, and location access.
- No payment data on the Site. Donations are completed on PayPal's secure checkout, so payment details never pass through the Site.
- Spam and abuse protection. Guestbook submissions must pass a Cloudflare Turnstile human check, per-visitor rate limits, and length limits, and every post is reviewed before publication. Posts are always displayed as plain text, so they cannot run code on the Site.
- Protected hosting. The Site is delivered through Cloudflare's global network, which provides DDoS mitigation and edge security.
No website can guarantee perfect security, but I work to keep these protections current.
Reporting a vulnerability. If you believe you have found a security issue, please report it privately by emailing ProjectAnderson@proton.me before disclosing it publicly, and include enough detail to reproduce it. Please do not access data that is not yours, disrupt the Site, or run automated scans. Good-faith reports are appreciated. Security contact details are also published at /.well-known/security.txt.
10. Disclaimer
The Site and all content on it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Project descriptions, live demos, and other materials are provided for informational and demonstration purposes only.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Site or any linked service.
12. Changes to these terms
I may update these Terms & Policies from time to time. Changes take effect when they are posted on this page, and the effective date at the top will be updated. Continuing to use the Site after changes are posted means you accept the revised terms.
